John Edward “Ed” Gates Sr. Kilpatrick Funeral Home Farmerville, LA Funeral services for Mr. John Edward “Ed” Gates Sr., age 70, of Farmerville, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Enterpise Baptist Church in Farmerville, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dewayne Ramsey assisted by Bobby Jackson . Officiating Graveside service will be Laymond Tucker. Interment will follow in Enterprise Cemetery. Mr. Gates was born on November 19, 1941 and passed away on February 29, 2012. He served in the United States Air Force and Retired after 43 years of service with Georgia Pacific. He is survived by his wife Velda Ray Gates of 48 years, of Farmerville, LA; sons: John Gates Jr. and wife Karen of Farmerville, LA; Stacy Gates and wife Barbara of Truxno, LA; Christopher Gates and wife Aungelia of Downsville, LA; daughter: Penny Fletcher and husband Bryan of West Monroe, LA; brothers: Walter Gates and Verda of West Monroe, LA; Robert Gates and wife Candy of West Monroe, LA; and Bill Gates of West Monroe; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren Pallbearers will be Tommy McDaniel, Ronnie McDaniel, Randy McDaniel, Donnie McDaniel, Randy Gates, Scott Gates, Tracy Womack, and Lance Gates. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Gates. Visitation will be Friday, March 2, 2012 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville of Farmerville.
