Funeral services for John E. Overman, 77, of Quitman, Louisiana, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Hodge Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Thomas and Rev. Norris Curry will be officiating. Interment will be at Antioch Cemetery in Quitman, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 12 P.M. until time of service.
John was born In Holly Bluff, Mississippi, March 12, 1944, and passed away February 28, 2022, in Ruston, Louisiana. John was retired from Weyerhaeuser in Arcadia. He lived a full, complete, and dedicated life. John accepted and knew the love of Jesus and family. He cared for his family and church brothers and sisters with a passion. He was a quiet man, but a wise man, and when he spoke people listened. John was an encourager and a helper. His house was in order, he was ready to die and looked forward to going home. John was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Edna Grey and Lucy Holland, stepdaughter Dee Rowe, and his wife Tommie Overman.
He is survived by his daughters, Melissa Overman of West Monroe, Louisiana and Dee-Dee Ockman and husband Dean of Denham Springs, Louisiana; three step daughters that he was more a Father to, Kathy Norris and husband Steve, Suzanne Ford and husband Jamie, Amanda Weeks and husband Marty; Grandchildren, Preston Rose, Jennifer Rose, Joshua Lewis and wife Samantha, and Kaley Ockman; Brother-in-law, Butch Garner and his wife Tanna; Step grandchildren, Brandon Griffin, Patrick Ford and wife Candra, Kaleb Causey, John Clark Ford, Marly Coleman and husband Wes, Carson Weeks; host of great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews,
Pallbearers will be Joshua Lewis, Dean Ockman, Benny Grey, Brandon Griffin, Preston Rose, Carson Weeks, Wes Coleman, Jamie Ford, Marty Weeks, and Steve Norris.
