John B. Zeigler Graveside services for John B. Zeigler, 89, of Marion, LA., will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Concord Cemetery near Marion. Officiating will be Rob Smith. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 12, 2011 from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA. John B. Zeigler was born December 7, 1921 in Eros, Louisiana, and he passed from this life on February 10, 2011. He was a Veteran of WWII, and retired as an Air Force Veteran after 22 years. He flew 46 successful combat missions, and retired as a Sr. Master Sergeant. During that time, he was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, two Air Medals and numerous Meritorius medals. Mr. Zeigler was active in various civic and community organizations, serving for eight years as a Marion City Alderman, and a past member, and President of the Marion Civic Club. He was a Lifetime Mason with the rank of Master Mason. Mr. Zeigler also was a member of First Baptist Church of Marion, Louisiana. John's highlight of his day was being a member of the Marion Coffee Club, and getting together with old friends. He was lovingly known as “Pappy” and he will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Mr. Zeigler is preceded in death by his father, Joel Benton Zeigler, mother Omie Malone Zeigler, brothers, Eldridge “Bo” Zeigler his twin, Robert Earl Zeigler, James Paul Zeigler and infant sister who died at birth, great-grand son Brandon, and his loving wife, Johnnie Elaine “Sister” Zeigler. He is survived by his only child, Michael James Zeigler, and wife Gaye of Shreveport, Louisiana; step-daughter Jackie Brady Bailey, and husband Bill of Bluefield, West Virginia, grandchildren, Brian, Michelle, Bobby, Tammy, and husband Billy, John, and four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Shelby, Hudson, and Kimberly, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Rob Smith, Johnny Fatheree, Bubba Smith, James Jones, Jason Garsee, Jay Gathright, and Buddy Maroney. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Marion Coffee Club.
