Funeral services for Joe Walter Bradford, 78, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 5, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 800 Downing Pines Road in West Monroe, LA. Bishop Scott Dickson will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Choudrant, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. Bradford was born January 3, 1933 in Meridian, MS and passed away April 30, 2011 in Monroe, LA. Joe Graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1956 and just after from 1957 through 1961 served in the U.S. Navy. From January 1963 to January of 1988 Joe worked for Ouachita National Bank and retired as a Vice President. He loved the Boy Scouts of America and therein attained the 'Silver Beaver', one of the highest awards a leader can obtain in this organization. 'Bishop' Bradford was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and served throughout his life selflessly as a Cub Master and Committee Member, a Sunday School Teacher, a Branch President, a High Councilman, and of course a Scout Master and Bishop. Joe loved hunting, fishing, and wood carving. He was a loving father, grandfather, and husband. Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by his parents Ben Lane and Myrtle Mae Jackson; and a sister Alice Tacoma Bradford Scalfano. Joe is survived by his wife Janice Aline Daly Bradford; a sister Zelma Mae Bradford Randazzo; a brother Ben Lane Bradford and wife Shirley Williams Bradford; children Joe Walter Bradford, Jr. and wife Cynthia Yvette Wright Bradford, Allen Russell Bradford and wife Kim Michele Atwood Bradford, Richard Daniel Bradford and wife Jennifer Leatham Bradford, Victoria Marie Bradford Taylor and husband Eric Dewayne Taylor; grandchildren Bennie Desmond Bradford, Ariel Yvette Bradford, Sariah Mae Bradford, David W. Bradford, Preston Michael Bradford, Brittanie Marie Bradford Hart and husband Benjamin Adam Hart, Daniel Alan Bradford, Nathan Conner Bradford, Qualan Thomas Bradford, Chiron Dash Bradford, Kaydee Lucille Bradford, and Christopher Lane Taylor; and foster grandchild Annie. Pallbearers will be Joe Bradford, Jr., Allen Bradford, Richard Bradford, Eric D. Taylor, Ben Bradford, and Paul Tolbird. Honorary pallbearers are Hosea McNew, Richard Ballard, and Dan Darnell. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
