Jody Keith Sebren, age 58, was born on July 31, 1965, in Monroe, Louisiana, to proud parents Jo Ann Patty (Morrow) and Otis Lee “Butch” Sebren. He passed away peacefully on December 4, 2023, in Bee Bayou, Louisiana, under the care of his beloved sister and surrounded by his family and friends.
Jody’s journey through life was marked by a spirit of resilience and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. From a young age, he displayed an enormous heart, a remarkable zest for life, and an infectious sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.
Known for his strong-willed and, at times, stubborn nature, Jody balanced these traits with unparalleled generosity and loyalty. His heart was vast, and his love for his friends and family knew no bounds. Those who were fortunate enough to know him could attest to the genuine care and warmth he shared with everyone around him.
Jody’s life was a mosaic of diverse experiences, reflecting his commitment to hard and honest work. From operating a tow truck to owning several small businesses, being a talented welding and utility inspector to driving some of the world’s most celebrated musicians and entertainers, Jody had the determination to provide for his family and took pride in whatever task was at hand. His versatility and resourcefulness were qualities that defined him, leaving an indelible mark on those he encountered in each of his many vocations.
The most profound source of pride and joy in Jody’s life was his role as a father. His two sons, Brook and Jared, to whom he affectionately referred to as “his Boosie-man and Jare-Bear,” were the very center of his world. Jody adored them with a love that knew no limits, taking immense pride in their achievements and cherishing every moment spent with them. They were his everything, and the bond they shared was a testament to the depth of his love as a father.
In addition to his family and career, Jody was a member of Urim Lodge #111 of Free and Accepted Masons, the Barak Shriners, and Kappa Alpha Order. His commitment to his faith and community reflected his dedication to service, fellowship, and the principles of brotherhood. Jody wholeheartedly believed that by building better people, we can build a better society through a belief in our common good, seeing past our differences, loving unconditionally, and helping others.
He cherished his friends and family deeply, regularly expressing his love openly and sincerely. If you knew Jody, you felt the warmth of his affection. As his time on this earth came to an end, he faced it with the same dignity, strength, and love that characterized his entire life. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and he always put the needs of others above his own. His departure leaves a void that will be keenly felt, and he will be missed dearly.
Jody is survived by his two sons, Brook (Andrea) Sebren of Spokane, Washington and Jared Sebren of Bentonville, Arkansas; his sister, Tammy Pritchard of Rayville, Louisiana; his stepmother and father, Glenda and Butch Sebren of Bastrop, Louisiana; three adoring grandchildren, Ellie, Harrison, and Henley; extended family, and countless friends around the world of which their love and support provided strength and solace throughout Jody’s life.
Jody was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Ann Patty; his stepfather, Lloyd Patty; his brother, Tharon Sebren; and his nephew, Colt Pritchard. Their memories will forever be intertwined with the legacy of love and laughter that Jody leaves behind.
A memorial service in celebration of Jody’s life will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Monroe, Louisiana at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Visitation will be held at 3:00 P.M., prior to the memorial service.
