Jimmy W. Jones, Jr., 65, of Bossier City, Louisiana, passed suddenly from this life on April 12, 2021, in West Monroe, Louisiana. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel, with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Louisiana. The Reverend Shawn Hornsby will officiate. Pallbearers are Charlie Albritton, Joshua Albritton, Ken Evans, John Gonzalez, Corbet McMullen, and Floyd Sandiford. Honorary pallbearers will be Ommie Heflin and Don Nugent.
Jimmy was born on December 21, 1955, in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated Wossman High School in 1973 and attended Northeast Louisiana University where he played saxophone in the “Sound of Today” Marching Band under the direction of Mr. Jack White. He was a member of West Monroe Pentecostal Church where his brother, Mark, today serves as Pastor. Until his recent passing, he was an active member of “The ’73 Wossman High School Get-Together Group” which met quarterly for lunch or dinner. In the last several years, meeting with this group brought him much joy and contentment as he connected with the many dear friends of his alma mater that he loved and respected. Jimmy was a talented and highly-demanded construction contractor, specializing in interior and commercial design.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father and namesake, the Reverend Jimmy William Nathan Jones, Sr. (1994); three brothers, Timothy Andrew Jones (2016), David Paul Jones (2019), and Joseph Nathan Jones (2021); two dear cousins, Linda Longoria Riojas (2001) and John David Longoria (2017);his aunt, Lydia Gonzalez(2003);his uncle, Juan “Johnny” Gonzalez (2020).
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Misty LaShea Jones; his mother, Benita Gonzalez Jones; three brothers, Gary Lane Jones (Dianne), Mark Anthony Jones, and Julian José Jones; sister-in-law, Kathey Ward Jones (wife of Timothy); two aunts, Josephine “Joey” Gonzalez Longoria (Tony), and Tomasa “Tatcha” Cavazos Gonzalez (“Johnny”); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
