He was born January 25, 1936 in Picayune, MS, to Alex J. and Nora (Bernice) Stapleton. On August 17, 1957 J.J. married Patsy Gay Milner Stapleton in Poplarville, MS after a three week courtship. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston where he took great pleasure in serving as Deacon Emeritus. His greatest joys in life were those times spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. J.J. strongest beliefs were in God, Family and Education, in that order. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gay Milner Stapleton; daughter, Honor B. Stapleton; sons and daughter-in-law, Orval and Cheryl Stapleton and Jimmie M. Stapleton; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other family members. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; Bernice Smith Stapleton and Alex J. Stapleton, Jr.Pallbearers will be Wade Hampton, Keith Barnes, John Roebuck, Dallas Allen, Christian Stapleton and Kevin Brizzard. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Schaffer, Steven Burke, Jason Cherry, Nolan Coleman, John Camp and Daniel Allen.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Graveside services for the family will be held at the Farmerville City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Professional Hospice Care for the compassionate care they provided to our family.
