Funeral services for Jimmie David Myers, 81, of West Monroe, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, February 26, 2024 at Christian Life Church. Rev. Danny Chance will officiate and interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Services are under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in West Monroe.
Jimmie was born in Coushatta, Louisiana on September 14, 1942 to Levi David Myers and Jewel Odell Sewell Myers. He passed away at home on February 22, 2024 in West Monroe, Louisiana. Jimmie was a member of Christian Life Church and served his country in the United States Army. Jimmie was a gruff exterior, but a big teddy bear and would give you the shirt off his back. He loved his wife and daughter and was a diligent caregiver through very difficult and trying times. Jimmie was his daughter’s hero.
Jimmie served as Sunday school teacher for 13 & 14 year old class for most of his life. He was known for visiting the absentees from the previous weekend, the following weekend. No matter how far away the students lived…..he showed up.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Wayne Myers and sister, Audrey Nell Myers.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Joyce Boliew Myers; daughter, Goldie Dawn Myers; very special sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Randy McManus and many other cherished family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Randy McManus, Quincy McManus, Darren Guess, Harold McGrew, Charles Huggins, and Jesse Masters. Honorary pallbearers will be Grady Kight, Robert Guess and Dennis Green.
