I became friends with Jewett while in the Ruston Jaycees and he learned that I was from Bernice. We were never close friends but he enjoyed talking about the old days when we might see each other on occasion, mostly funerals. He wii be missed!

My condolences to the family of such a wonderful man! Mr. Jewette was special, not only to me, but to so many in the state of Mississippi. I always enjoyed his classes and learned a lot about the subject matter and life in general. Later he served as a mentor, helping me as an IAAO instructor. I am very thankful to have considered him as a friend and will miss our talks! Prayers for each of you.

Jewette was a special person. As an assessor in Mississippi, I considered him a wonderful model for our profession. As a teacher, I considered him a mentor. But most of all, I considered him a friend. My life was certainly enriched by him. May the Lord comfort you in cherishing his life and memory.

I met Jewett over 20 years ago when I went to work for the state of Arkansas. Have nothing but fond memories of taking classes he taught, sitting and talking to him at meetings(and learning so much). But my favorite topic was the peaches in Ruston. I grew up in Louisiana so I would always ask him if they had a good peach season. And, of course, we talked about LSU. My condolences to the family and I pray God gives you strength and peace during this time. He was a good man and I am proud to call him a friend.
Rita Wellbrink left a message on June 21, 2023:
I played music in a local band with Jewett for many years. He was always respectful, funny, talented, and a salt-of-the-earth type person. I have not seen him in years and hated to learn of his passing. I will forever treasure my fond memories of Him and his comical stories! Rest in peace, friend! ?
