Jesselynn Pirkle Oest Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA. Run Date: Sunday May 27, 2007 Graveside services for Jesselynn Pirkle Oest, age 81, of Simsboro, LA will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Andy Hurst under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston. Mrs. Oest was born in Ruston on September 24, 1925 and passed away May 25, 2007 at her home in Simsboro, LA. Jesse was a native of Ruston, LA. She was the elder daughter of Jessie Nobles Pirkle and James Madison Pirkle. She attended Louisiana Tech University and earned her B.A Degree from Louisiana State University and a Master≠s degree from the University of Houston. She taught Elementary School in Baytown, Texas and made her home there for many years. Mrs. Oest was a person of many talents, interests and a deep faith. She traveled widely and explored the history and cultures of many areas, especially Louisiana and Texas. She held a particular concern in the preservation of the folk crafts and natural flora of this area. She was a life long member of Trinity United Methodist Church and contributed significantly to various community groups. She was preceded in death by her husband John M. Oest and her parents, two brothers James F. Pirkle and Jack H. Pirkle and one sister Jo Ann Pirkle. Mrs. Oest is survived by several cousins, nieces, one nephew and many friends.
