Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Winston Bennett, age 60, will be held Friday at 2:00 May 18, 2007 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA with Rev. Rayland Trisler and Rev. Oda Tuck Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA. Mr. Bennett was born February 08, 1947 in Monroe, LA and went to meet the Lord on May 15, 2007 at his home in Monroe, LA. He was a life long resident of Monroe and a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School. Jerry was the owner of Bennett Roofing Inc. of Monroe, LA for the past 35 years. Jerry was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Jerry coached recreational baseball for over 15 years and loved all the boys and girls he coached and they loved him right back. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Ouachita Lions. He never missed one of his sons football and baseball games while he played for the Lions and most recently has enjoyed going to his Grandsons baseball and football games at Ouachita. His Grandchildren, Ashton, Kendyl and Cole, he was their number one fan. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends. Jerry never met a stranger and could always make you laugh. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the caring and compassionate nurses on the 4th floor of St. Francis North and to Medi Star Home Health for their loving care especially Don and Regina. To Dr. Leary, Donna, Sue and Sally, and to Dr. Anders, and Dr. Sarama and their entire staff, thank you for all your concern and care you have given Jerry in the past months. Jerry's family extends their grateful thanks to the many friends and prayer warriors for their loving support during Jerry's courageous fight with cancer. Jerry will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched along the way. Jerry was passionate about his family and to his family he was larger than life!! He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Vivian Bennett and his Father In Law, Sherwood Futch. Jerry is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart of 39 years, Sandra Futch Bennett; daughter: Shawn Marie Bennett Patton and husband, Shane; son: J.J. Bennett and wife, Summer: grandsons: Cole Hemphill and Ashton Bennett; granddaughter: Kendyl Patton; sisters: Sandra Perritt and Melba Cumpton: brother: Wallace Bennett; brother-in-law: Gary Futch and wife, Henrietta; mother-in-law: Marie Futch; many nieces and nephews and two faithful canine companions: Buddy and Duke. Pallbearers will be Sig Gorman, David Beezley, Henry Hays, Don Perry, Arthur Earl, Ken Malone, Kevin Futch, and Greg Futch. Honorary Pallbearers will be Grandson Cole Hemphill, Gary Breland, Jack Earl, Chris Price, Clay Hust, Adam Coco, Eric Roberson and the men and women of Jerry≠s Sunday School Class.
