Jerry Wayne Broom was born on January 2, 1944, in West Monroe, Louisiana, and passed away on August 17, 2024, in Weston, Colorado, at his residence. Jerry was part of the Air Force Sergeant 522 Tactical Fighter Squadron from January 1964 to January 1968. He was also a Vietnam Veteran. Jerry loved his large family and the good Lord. He lived his life by example. As a patriotic American, he believed there was no kneeling for the National Anthem or the American Flag and refused to watch any sport that allowed that. Jerry saved his kneeling for God, Christ and the Cross. Jerry enjoyed flying as a pilot with Frontier, Continental and United Airlines and retired as a Captain in 2009. He liked hunting, fishing and loved eating. Jerry really loved his wife, Judy Elaine Broom. They were married for over 41 years and together raised four of the most wonderful children any couple could ask God for. Jerry was preceded by his mother, Lola Mae Broom; father, Melvin Broom; brothers, Gene Broom and Mike Broom; niece, Bridget Salter; and nephew, Kevin Conville.
Jerry was survived by his loving wife, Judy Elaine Broom; children, Stephanie Broom, Lorie Broom Carter and son-in-law, David, Natalie Broom Dudding and son-in-law, “Ash” Billy, and Brad Renzelmon; grandchildren, Brittany Broom, Hannah Carter, Nicholas “Nick” Carter, Jacob Carter, Kayla Young, Colton Dudding, Noah Dudding, Gunnar Dudding; great-grandchildren, Thomas Broom, David Broom; sisters, Judy Gates and brother-in-law, Jerral and Wanda “Sal” Phillips; nephews, Rickye Salter and wife Julie, Jerral Gates, Jr. and Wife Carla, Randy Convilles, Todd Convilles, Scott Convilles, Jeff Broom, and Jerrod Broom; nieces, Kim Broom Cotton and Jennifer Broom; along with other extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be David Carter, Nick Carter, Ash Dudding, Rickye Salter, Garald Gates Jr., and Jeff Broom.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jacob Carter, Colton Dudding and Noah Dudding.
