Jerry C. Johnston Services for Jerry Cecil Johnston, age 74 of Ruston, La. will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 2:00 P.M at Trinity United Methodist Church, Ruston, La. with Rev. Fred Wideman officiating. Interment will follow at Pines Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home; Ruston, La. Visitation will be at Dr. Johnston?s home, 425 Forest Circle following the interment at Pines Memorial Gardens. Dr. Johnston was born July 19, 1933 in Beekman, La. and passed away February 11, 2008 in Ruston, La. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He attended L. S. U. and graduated from Loyola School of Dentistry in 1958. He served two years as a Captain in the U. S. Air Force in the Dental Corp at Carswell Air Force base in Ft. Worth, Texas; He opened his dental office in Ruston in 1960 and served his community for 47 years. Dr. Johnston helped organize Boy Scout Troup 59 and served as its first scout master. He was the dental consultant for Ruston State School for many years. He was elected City Alderman in 1966 and was selected Ruston?s Outstanding Young Man in 1967. He was a supporter of La. Tech at various Levels and past President of Greater Tech Foundation. Dr. Johnston was one of the five founders of Cedar Creek School and served on the Board of Directors until his death. Dr. Johnston was a Fellowship member in the : Academy of Dentistry International, Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. Past President of the 5th District Dental Society and the Northeast Louisiana Dental Association. A graduate of Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental training and received a mastership at the Las Vegas Institute. He was an avid fisherman and passionate outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margie and Leon Johnston; sister, Margie Ann Port; brother Leon Allen Johnston. Survivors include his wife Joann Keller Johnston, sons Jerry Lamar Johnston and wife Tami of Ruston. Stephen Doyle Johnston and wife Kim of Port Richey, Florida; daughters Frances Johnston Matise and husband Mark of Dallas Texas. Holly Johnston Reed and husband Jay of Southlake, Texas. Ten grandchildren: Jerry Johnston, Jr., Taylor Johnston, Ayla Johnston, Elle Johnston Hoyt Matise, Frances Ann Matise,, Keller Matise, Meridian Reed, Cierra Reed and Calloway Reed; his brothers Max Johnston and wife Frances and Ronnie Johnston and wife Jeanette of Rome, Georgia.Pallbearers will be Johnny Maxwell, James Davison, Ben James, Ron Riley, Tommy James, Tom Hinton and Jerry Lamar Johnston, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Dawkins, Scotty Robertson, Dr. Hoye Grafton,Danny Carroll, Dr. Damon Bradford, Mike Frazier, Joe Hinton, M.
