Jerry Don Franklin, age 69, was born February 25, 1947 and died on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at his home in Marion, Louisiana from GBM Stage 4 brain tumor.Jerry is survived by his wife, Bonnie of 27 years, son Bryan Strother, (Sharon) and daughter, Kari, (Ben) Borgman. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Caden Strother, Karson and Ally Borgman; father, James Hubert Franklin and two brothers, Tommy, (Joanie) Franklin and Kenneth, (Becky); also family whom he loves dearly. Jerry is predeceased by his mother, Wanda B. Franklin and one brother and sisters-in-law, James and Judy Franklin, and Carolyn Franklin.Jerry was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War serving two terms (1965-1967) and worked for Genesis Energy as a Truck Driver up until he was diagnosed in June, 2015.Services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm with visitation starting at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Marion, La. where Jerry was a member. Jerry or as most of us called him Uncle Jerry was "A" player for our team. He was a go to guy and I can honestly say he enjoyed doing what he did, driving a truck. His sense of humor was off the charts and very welcomed when he came into the office as this environment usually lends to a lot of stress. I prayed often that he would clear this hurdle since being diagnosed last year but I figured the Lord needed another 'A" player in his kingdom. Go rest high Uncle Jerry you are missed but will be forever remembered..

May the grace of Our Lord be with you during this difficult time, Jerry was always so very pleasant to work with during our days at Davison Transport.Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire family.

I was one of many dispatchers at Davison (Genesis Energy) that had the pleasure of working with Jerry. He and I had lots of long talks "at the window" about life. I wish I could've found out in time to say goodbye to him personally. He will be missed.
