Janet was born September 6, 1937 in Haynesville, LA and passed from this life September 4, 2022 in Monroe, LA. She is predeceased by her husband, John Brough and parents, James and Helen Garrett.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Carter and Amy LaCour (Monty); 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Janet enjoyed the company of family and friends, gardening, having lunches at Melvyn’s and the companionship of her cat “Woo-Woo”.

I am blessed to have known Ms. Jan. Having worked for her over 6 years, I made to feel as a family member. We shared many a grand discussion, polar opposites in opinions, but we each respected the other's ideologies. I am humbled to have known such a grand lady. My condolences to the family. The world is a tad less bright now that she has gone.

In 1981, I started working in Monroe thanks to Ms Helen and from that friendship, I got to know Jan. She always had a smile on her face and always took a minute to chat and catch-up on what we both had going on. She was such a sweet and genuine person, I know she will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

Susan, your mom was the BEST claims lady and most awesome person i have ever worked with. She will be missed and finding dedicated people with awesome work habits is just getting harder to find. Jan -who I will forever call Jane (nickname from American Indemnity days) - was truly one of a kind. She had a love that just drew everyone in. I am so thankful for getting to work with her not once but twice! You will be missed my sweet friend!
