Celebration of life for Jamey Coon, 42, of Slaughter, Louisiana, formally of Okaloosa, Louisiana, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe with Dr. Michael Barnett and Dr. Michael Holloway officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Eros, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Jamey was born April 4, 1980 in Manhattan, Kansas and then later raised in the Okaloosa Community of Ouachita Parish. He passed away at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge on January 12, 2023 following a brief illness. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Choudrant, Louisiana. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball and was an accomplished pitcher for the West Ouachita Chiefs. His black lab, Junior, was his partner for many years and loved him like no other. Jamey graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Jamey had a love for all sports, but his favorites were Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.P. and Christine Fulmer, Max and Bobbie Coon, along with Jordan and Fern Worley.
Jamey is survived by his 3 precious children Montgomery Sage Coon, Porter Louis Coon and Dawsyn Amanda Coon; parents Andy and Patience Coon; brother, Clinton Coon and wife Trina Coon; fiancé Dawn Freeman; nieces, Lexie and Emma; nephew, Case; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other cherished family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clinton Coon, Cody Cascio, Blake Peters, Michael Leehy, Anthony Martin, and Toby Head.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Nappier, Rick Breen, and David McGrew.
