Funeral Services for James Ray Magouirk, 77, of West Monroe will be held at 11:00AM, Monday, June 27, 2022 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Rev. David McCormick and Bro. James McCormick will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick Serenity Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time.
James Ray Magouirk was born in Orange, Texas, on July 19, 1944 and passed away June 24, 2022, peacefully at his home in West Monroe. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer aboard the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier where he operated the number two engine. After the Navy, Jimmy returned home to work at Custom Machine Works for 26 years as shop foreman, before transitioning to Sharpco as machinist, and later CNC operator. He enjoyed the peace and quiet of the home that he and his wife, Linda, built on the Ouachita River. Jimmy will be most remembered for his quick wit and uniquely creative approach to problem solving.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lucille Magouirk Mitchell and Arel Earnest Magouirk; his brother Ralph Magouirk; and his son, Kenny Magouirk. Survivors include his wife, Linda Magouirk; sisters, Dorothy Rodgers and Peggy Wimberley; brother, Charles Magouirk (Marty); sister-in-law, Stella McCormick; brother-in-law, James McCormick (Becky); daughters, Donna Brinson (James) and Sandy Powlett (Steve); grandchildren, Jamie Dickens (Courtney), Mindy Layfield (Matt), and Amanda Peters (Blake); great grandchildren, Mattie and Makenna Layfield, Camden and Adilynn Peters; and many other cherished family and friends.
Pallbearers will be James Brinson, Jamie Dickens, Matt Layfield, Jeff Magouirk, Blake Peters and Steve Powlett. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Magouirk and James Sharplin.
The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Amy McKenzie, for their astounding care and support during this difficult time.
