James M. Stires (Mr. Jim) was born October 19, 1928 in Staton County, Kansas and passed away December 4, 2018 in Sterlington, LA. He was honored, as a Purple Heart recipient, during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist, until his retirement at age 75. Mr. Jim loved hunting, fishing and gardening. Most of all he had the greatest love for his wife and family, 7 children, 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. The grandchildren and great grandchildren called him Pap paw.He was a kind and generous man, and a great friend to all who knew him. James (Mr. Jim) knew and loved the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Stires (Mrs. Dinky) and son Cecil Tackett.He is survived by his children, Toni Thompson and husband Randy; James Stires and wife Cindy, John Stires and wife Ann, Lovell Tackett and wife Laurie, Michael Breeland and wife Jerri, Vern Breeland and wife Melissa; brother, Wesley Stires; and several nieces and nephews.Thanks to family and friends for the visits, ongoing prayers and love you have given us.
