Funeral Services for James M. “Jimmy” Newsom, age 99, of Dubach, LA., passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020 after a brief illness.  Services will be Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 2:00 P.M., at the First Baptist Church of Dubach.  Officiating will be Bro. Barry Joyner and Bro. Cory Bruce. Interment will be at Roark Cemetery in Marion, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Jimmy was born in Oakland, LA on May 9, 1921 to Ollie and Henri Newsom. He was a plant manager for Sid Richardson Oil and Gas Company and was a WWII Veteran having served in the United States Navy.  Jimmy was a long time member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Dubach.

Preceded in death are his parents Ollie A. Newsom and Henri Billberry Newsom both of Union Parish.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 74 years; Fern Newsom, sons; Mike Newsom (Patti), Rob Newsom (Tamara), granddaughters: Jennifer Green (Tommy), Keely Newsom, great-grandson; Thomas Green, great-granddaughters; Lauren Green and Mia McLain.

Pallbearers are Ty Pendergrass, John McClendon, Bill Pendergrass, Don Robbins, Durwood Franklin and Bobby Till.  Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Fuller and Travis Gray.

Planned Memorials may be made to the City of Dubach (Large Flag Fund), 7833 Annie Lee St., Dubach, LA.  71235.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 14, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Dubach.
