Funeral services for James “Jim” Thomas will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at First Methodist Church, Loop Road, Monroe, LA. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Lipe. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. until time of service.

Jim was born on March 10, 1948 in Monroe, LA and passed away on February 9, 2023 in Monroe, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, DeeDee and Jim Thomas; son, John David Thomas and nephew, Patrick Thomas.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Rea Thomas; children, Tonja Thomas Huenefeld and husband Frederick, James Edgar Thomas and wife Dr. Molly Boyd Thomas, John Calvin Thomas and wife Analeise Reeves Thomas; grandchildren, Thomas Huenefeld, Maggie Huenefeld, Hannah Huenefeld, James Calvin Huenefeld, Emma Huenefeld, Sadie Huenefeld, Abby Huenefeld, Naomi Huenefeld, Mae Huenefeld, Madeline Huenefeld, Mairin Grace Thomas, Adair Thomas, Jack Thomas and Oliver Thomas; brothers, Mike Thomas and wife Connie, Bob Thomas and wife Donna; aunt, Ann Bryan; brothers-in-law, Bob and wife Vevie Rea, John and wife Selene Rea, Ron Gaetano; sisters-in-law, Nancy Nelson, Margaret Perkins, Mary Schuler, Cindy and husband Dennis Robertson; special nephew, Steven Carr and his mom Linda Carr; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim worked as a real estate broker, insurance agent and a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an avid bird hunter. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them.

Memorials may be made to Faith Point Church in Delhi, LA, Samaritan’s Purse, Grace Place, Louisiana Food Bank, Wounded Warriors or First Methodist Monroe.
