Memorial services for James Jim H. Poe, age 69, of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home ~ West Monroe. Dr. Keith McVay will officiate. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.Jim was born September 3, 1950 in El Dorado, Arkansas and passed away on December 8, 2019, in Monroe, LA. His early life was spent in Strong, Arkansas, enjoying family and the great Arkansas outdoors. The opportunity to attend and graduate from Louisiana Tech as an electrical engineer was a highlight for Jim. Then, the achievement of Professional Engineer status was his ultimate professional accomplishment. Jim worked as a control systems engineer with several consulting engineering firms in the north Louisiana area.Family highlights in Jim life were his marriage to his wife of 43 years, Fran Dennis Poe; the birth of his son, David James Poe of Ruston; the births of his grandchildren, Anna Kate Poe and James David Poe; daughter in law, Kristen Cloud Poe, is the best wife he could have wished for his son. In addition to his immediate family, Jim is survived by his sister, Jeanie Poe OConnell of Georgetown, Texas; two aunts and many other cherished family and friends.Jim gave many years of joyful service to His Savior and Lord Jesus Christ at First Baptist Church ~ West Monroe. His engineering talents were put to use in the church TV/audio visuals ministry and many special services. A servant heart could also be seen in the family and neighborhood DIY projects for which he volunteered.Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Eugene Poe and Opal McKinney Poe; sister, Suzanne Poe Caprio; brother in law, Bill OConnell.The family would like to thank the doctors of Northeast Louisiana Kidney Specialists, the Fresenius Dialysis Center, St. Francis LTAC Unit, and Dr. Frank Sartor for their compassionate medical care.
