James was born September 18, 1950 in Winnfield, LA and passed away December 15, 2023 in Monroe, LA.
James, sometimes called ‘Peepaw’ or ‘Jim’ by his loved ones, was a fiercely loyal, hardworking, and God-fearing man that never gave up in the face of adversity. He loved this world in all of its beauty, and most of all, he cherished his family and many friends. He served his community as a UPS driver for 33 years, befriending many and delivering smiles across both Union and Ouachita Parishes.
James also founded Dow’s Small Engine, forming numerous connections with lifelong friends that he considered family. His favorite activities included hunting and fishing with his many friends and loved ones. His heart beat for those he loved until the very end, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and cherished friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Minneola Dow and foster parents Carolyn and Dub Smith; wife Bonnie Dow; brothers Charles Dow and Joe Dow.
James is survived by his wife Wilma Dow; children Jason Dow and Casey Tyler and husband Brandon; grandchildren Jonathan Dow and Ashlyn Tyler; great-grandchild J. T.; brothers and sisters Voriece Dow George, Frances McDonald and husband Tony, Juanita Dow, Wayne Dow and Jan, Albert Dow and Robert Dow and wife Pat; foster sisters Jean Ivey and Nancie Corley and husband David; numerous nieces .nephews, friends and love ones.
Serving as pallbearers Jason Dow, Brandon Tyler, Josh Goss, Bryan George, Daniel Powell, Matt Fife, Fisher Powell and Dylan Douglas.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Carl Wayne Allen and Lonnie Ralph Skipper.
