Funeral services for James Arvel “Jim” Harrell, 79 of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana. Rev. Jarrod Hawthorne and Ryan Lane will officiate. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the funeral home.
Jim was born September 19, 1944 in Beaumont, Texas and passed away on March 2, 2024 in West Monroe, Louisiana. He served his country in the United States Navy. He loved to fish for bass and white perch. Jim holds the #22 heaviest bass from the state of Texas at 16.12 pounds, caught in 2002 at Lake Fork. He loved spending time at home with his wife, Tammi, especially to watch their favorite show, Survivor. Jim loved going to visit his older brother in Arkansas for lunch regularly, spending time and loving all of his pets, and he had many through the years, admiring his Navy family and spending time with his West Monroe High School Alumni family. He is a member of the hole in one club, which occurred at Hole No.2 at the old Selman Field golf course. Jim was an excellent machinist, and could repair or fix anything that needed it. He was preceded in death by parents, Edith T Moore and Grover “Red” H. Harrell; brother, Keith Alan Harrell and father-in-law Percy Ritchie.
Jim is survived by his wife, Tammi Harrell; sons, Jamie Harrell and wife Heather, and Bobby York; grandson, Evan Harrell; brother, Donald Ray Harrell and wife Claudia; mother-in-law Dorothy “Dot” Ritchie; sister-in-laws, Susie Harrell, and Vickie Remillard; brother-in-law, Mike Ritchie; numerous nieces and nephews and many other cherished family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kent Harrell, Sean Harrell, Evan Harrell, Brandon Cork and Mike Ritchie.
The family wants to send special thanks to the employees at Ridgecrest and the staff of Elara Hospice. Their care and support during this time was invaluable.
