Funeral services for Mr. James Whitlock, 77, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 10:00a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe with Rev. Brad Jones and Rev. Steve Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe. Mr. Whitlock was born March 18, 1930 in West Monroe, La. and met his faithful heavenly father on June 2, 2007 at his residence. James fought a courageous battle for over two years. James enjoyed life, he was an avid hunter and a charter member of Caney Hunting club, James loved family gatherings with great food. Anything that involved family is what he lived live for.James lovingly raised Carolyn, nieces and nephews and then his grandchildren. He made life worth living for his whole family! James served in the U. S. Army from 1950 till 1953 Survivors include his wife, Sybol Johnston Whitlock whom he met in 1954, and married October 5, 1957, he was a faithful husband always referring to her as ¨The Queen. Daughter, Carolyn Wright; grandchildren, Jeff Spillers and wife, Sharon, Jamie Spillers and wife, Kay; great grandchildren, Dessy Spillers, Trey Spillers, Hailey Spillers, Logan ¨Roper Spillers, Jason Spillers; great great grandchild, Austin Spillers; brothers, O.C. Whitlock, Charles Whitlock; sister, Nelda Crain. Also survived by special nephew and caretaker, Dennis Johnston and many other nieces and nephews and a host of close friends. Preceded in death by his parents; Odis and Vera Whitlock, brother; Marvin Whitlock, son in law, Alton Wright. Pallbearers will be Royce Calhoun, Mack Calhoun, Steven Calhoun, David Crain, Issac Howell, Billy Joe Porter, Julian Johnston. Honorary Pallbearer; Dr. Keith Calhoun. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday June 4, 2007 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
