Jack Melvin ”Bud” Feazel, 93, of West Monroe was born in Wilhite, LA on November 22, 1926 to Douglas and Bessie (Ward) Feazel and passed away March 30, 2020 in West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle; parents, son, Truett Feazel; grandson, Daniel Feazel; two brothers and sisters.
Jack enlisted in the Army during WW II, stationed in the Philippines until 1945. He returned to the states and in November 1948 married Myrtle Avery of West Monroe. For over six decades the couple lived in the house built by Jack and his friends. There they raised their three children, Truett, Charlotte and Reba. Jack worked construction putting up metal lath on numerous buildings across north Louisiana for many years until his retirement.
As grandchildren came along, Papaw put his construction knowledge to good use by creating a backyard playground filled with things to climb up, jump on, swing from, slide down, twist around, ride across and laugh about! In later years, Jack spent most of his days trimming bushes, raking leaves and walking down their quiet street every morning and evening. Of course, nothing got in the way of his daily nap!
Although a very quiet man, Jack was always thoughtful and truthful in everything he did. He served as a deacon in this church and on several committees. Those who knew him can probably tell a story or two about the funny wit Jack had. He and his wife were blessed by God is so many ways. Age and failing health made it necessary for Jack to move to The Guest House of West Monroe in late 2014.
Jack is survived by daughters, Charlotte Coates and husband Chris of Downsville, Reba Ramsey and husband Jeanie “Leroy” of West Monroe; grandchildren, Casey Feazel, Ashley Feazel, both of Tennessee, Christopher Feazel and wife Kendra of North Carolina, Jason Christy of South Carolina, Julie Coates, Heather Gill and husband Gabe, Jared Ramsey and wife Amanda, all of West Monroe; great-grandchildren Sadie Feazel, Darby Miles, Gracie Gill, Nora & Jed Lewis, Kasey Ramsey, Emma Ramsey, Noah Brewster, Keaton Brewster, Leann Watson, Bryanna Watson; brother, Kerlin Feazel of Washington; sister, Sally Iverson of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
