Funeral services for Jack Browning Dowell, 84, of Monroe, LA will be at 10:00 PM, Friday, February 25, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Jim Ragsdale officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Dowell went to be with his Lord on February 22, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Dowell was born on November 11, 1926 in Bristol, Tennessee and passed away at his home in Monroe. Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by his parents Wiley Brownlow Dowell and Pauline Henley Dowell, and his siblings Eugene Speedy Dowell and Robert Bobby Dowell all of Bristol, Tennessee. Also he was preceded in death by brothers-in-law George Thomas, Chap Lockhart, Walter Russell, and Marvin Meade; as well as, sisters-in-law Geraldine Meade, and Gennette Russell Smith, and a nephew, Gerald Meade. Mr. Dowell is survived by his wife Louise Lowe Dowell of 66 years and his three children Browning Dowell of Lexington, KY, Peyton Dowell of Monroe, Louisiana, and Jimmy and Melinda Lofton of , Huntington, Texas. Also, Mr. Dowell was proud of his five grandchildren Ryan Dowell, Kelly Dowell, Heather Dowell Couture, Derek Dowell, and Ethan Lofton along with his five great-grandchildren. Mr. Dowell also had numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. . Mr. Dowell worked for many years as District Manager for American National Insurance Company in Monroe where he retired. Mr. Dowell was a veteran of the United States Army and served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of New Destiny Assembly of God Church and he was a deacon emeritus. Mr. Dowell loved spending time with his family, reading and studying his Bible, painting beautiful scenes of still life and he loved Tennessee VOLS Football. Pallbearers will be: Ryan Dowell, Derek Dowell, Ethan Lofton, Damon Martin, Ken Green, and Mark Green. Honorary pallbearer will be Kelly Dowell. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA.
