Funeral services for J.R. Dumas of West Monroe, will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, October 7, 2023 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Christopher Miller and Rev. Butch Pilcher officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.

J.R. was born October 14, 1935 in Calhoun, LA and passed away October 3, 2023 in West Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; Leon and Mamie Dumas; siblings Olean Hilburn, Ruby Whitlock, Jane Guest, Dallas Dumas, Joe Dumas and Beryl Rogers. J.R. was a member of The Assembly. He was owner of Dumas Electrical Heating and Air. His hobbies were hunting, traveling, camping and fishing.

J.R.  is survived by his wife of 69 years Jo Ann McGowen Dumas; children, John Richard Dumas and wife Tara and Brenda Pemberton and husband Richard; grandchildren, Shonna Hart(Jeff), Amanda Lenard (Larry), Brittany Reynaud (Daniel), Jessica Pruitt, and Jaimie Pressley (Morgan); great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Hart, Jr., Alexis Hart, Grayson Harris, Brant Reynaud, Ezra Reynaud, River Pruitt and Delilah Pressley; brother and sister-in-law James and Jo Ann McGowen  and numerous nieces and nephews. J.R. and Jo Ann are thankful for their special friends, Janet Burnett, Don and Jeri Bendily and  Lawson Mason.

Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Reynaud, Johnny Ashbrook, Daryl Minter, Jeff Hart, Jeffrey Hart Jr., Raymond Frazier and Larry Lenard.
