Funeral services for Inez Burgess Lewis, 90, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 7, 2011 at McGuire United Methodist Church in West Monroe. Reverend Michi Head will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Inez was born September 17, 1921 in Hico, LA and danced through Heaven's gates October 4, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Devon “Poss” Lewis, infant daughter Peggy and parents, Aubyn and Annie Belle Moncrief Burgess of Hico. Inez is survived by her daughter, Dency and husband Dr. Larry Blackmon of West Monroe; son, Gary and wife Libby Lewis of Dubach; grandchildren, D'Anne Bennett and husband Corey, Jason Lewis, Amy Many and husband Jeremy, Kinbur Blackmon; great-grandchildren, Reed and Emma Bennett, Mase, Kross and Brees Many; her brother, Hugh Burgess and wife Sue of Dubach and nieces, Dianne Cobb and husband Kenny and Jan Best. Inez lived life to its fullest. On Friday night you'd find her at Rebel Stadium, Saturday gardening then dancing with her dear friends, and Sundays at McGuire United Methodist Church where she was a member for over 70 years. Every other moment was spent cherishing her great grandkids who lovingly called her Meme. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
