Funeral services for Hugh Burgess, age 84, of Dubach will be held at 10am Saturday, June 16th 2012 at the Dubach United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Lanier officiating. Interment will follow in the Harmony Chapel Cemetery in Hico, La. Visitation will be on Friday June 15th from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at Kilpatrick's Funeral Home in Ruston, La. Hugh was born on June 6th 1928 in Hico, La. He passed away at his home in Dubach surrounded by his loving family on June 13th following a courageous battle with gastric stomach cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubin and Belle Burgess; ln Laws: Oko and Versie Napper; Sister: lnez Lewis; Granddaughters: Susan Neaville and Keisha Helm and many nieces and nephews. Hugh was retired from the Kerr-McGee Gas Plant in Dubach, La. He was known as a crafted Gunsmith and made many friends throughout North La. with his excellent gun repair skills. For many years Hugh enjoyed the outdoors quail hunting and squirrel hunting. He was a dedicated member of the Dubach Methodist Church where he took great pride in singing in the church choir. Hugh is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Napper Burgess; daughters: Jan Best of Lafayette, LA; Dianne Cobb and husband Kenny of Ruston, LA; Great Granddaughters: Grace and Lacy Neaville of Ruston, LA along with many nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Reed, Blake Helm, Larry Ferguson, Jerry Rogers, Darrell McAdams, and Skeeter Colvin. A special thanks to Dr. Ed Mariano and Hospice of Caring Hearts of Ruston.
