Graveside services for Horace T. Roy Nichols will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens with Rev. Dennis Harvey officiating under the care and direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Mr. Nichols passed from this life into eternity on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the age of 92 and was born September 18, 1930 in Yorktown, Arkansas to Dood and Rosa Nichols. He served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He became a telegrapher agent with the Missouri Pacific Railroad and came to Monroe in 1954 in the traffic department. He then worked for Commerical Solvents in Sterlington, and spent the last 30 years of his career at Olinkraft/Manville/Riverwood, retiring as Director of Transportation. He was an avid reader of nonfiction, golfer and loved is Arkansas Razorbacks.
Mr. Nichols was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Sammie; his wonderful son, Dennis Nichols and his wonderful granddaughter Glynece Harvey.
He is survived by three daughters, Sheila Harvey and husband Dennis, Carla Ritchie and husband Glenn, and Laura Womack and husband Jimmy; grandchildren Eric Ritchie and wife Nina, David Nichols and wife Tressie, Melody Binion and husband John, Kyle Nichols and wife Hannah, Ryan Ritchie and wife Karlie, Samantha Womack, Nicholas Womack, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Ritchie, David Nichols, Kyle Nichols, Ryan Ritchie, Nicholas Womack and John Binion.
He was loved by many and will be missed.
