Funeral services for Mr. Hollis G. May, 89, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 15, 2010 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe, with Rev Randy Burdeaux and Rev. Milton Pray officiating. Family tributes will be presented by Don May and Chris Waggoner. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. May was born September 16, 1921 in Caldwell Parish, LA and passed away November 13, 2010 in West Monroe. Mr. May served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 as a Cpl in the European Theater, Belgium and France in the 84th Infantry Division, Company D 335th Infantry, and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Manville after 30 years of service; he loved gardening, and was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, D. M. and Linnie May; a sister Loyce Mae Womack; two brothers, Dudley Woodrow May and Waymon May; and son-in-law Printes Waggoner, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Earlene May; a daughter, Margaret Waggoner; a son, Don May and wife Shere; four grandchildren, Chris Waggoner and wife Joann, Kim Wickham and husband Jeff, Brandon May, and Brent May and wife Amanda; three great-granddaughters, Bryleigh Elizabeth Wickham, Tracee Lucille Wickham, and Mary Elizabeth Waggoner; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives. The family wishes to express a special thanks to Nurse Jennia Adams, Volunteer Coordinator Peggy Clark, Social Worker, Brenda Rhodes, Chaplain Milton Pray, all of the aides, and the rest of the staff of Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care. Pallbearers will be Chris Waggoner, Jeff Wickham, Brandon May, Brent May, Rich Jacobs, and Gary Foster. Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, La. Memorials may be made to the charity of the givers choice.
