Funeral services for Henry Elton Phillips, Jr., age 85 of Choudrant, Louisiana, will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Kenneth Swanner and Rev. Brad Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 4, 2021 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home ~ Ruston.

Mr. Phillips entered his heanenly home on October 1, 2021 surrounded by family at his home. “Pappaw Jr.”, as he was lovingly known by many, was born on January 31, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his precious wife, Jean Phillips; mother, Ila King; father, Henry Phillips, Sr.; brother, Melvin Clanton; sister, Mercile Sullivan; grandchild, Anthony Willis.

Mr. Phillips is survived by 5 children, Kathy Pyle and husband Ed of Grand Prairie, Texas, Beverly Willis and husband Danny of Choudrant, Louisiana, Ricky Phillips and wife Cindy of Choudrant, Louisiana, Debbie Rogers and husband Steve of Camden, Arkansas, Glenn Phillips and wife Diona of Downsville, Louisiana. In addition to his children, he is survived by thirteen grandchildren, John Pyle and wife Julie of Ruston, Louisiana, Jason Pyle and wife Nicole of Camden, Arkansas, Janice Russell and husband Andrew of Manfield, Texas, Misty Savage and husband Daryl of Choudrant, Louisiana, Matt Willis and wife Jennifer of Dubach, Louisiana, Laura Jackson and husband Kenny of Choudrant, Louisiana, Haley Jones and husband Kyle of Pineville, Louisiana, Cody Phillips and wife Jessica of Ruston, Louisiana, Tyler Phillips and wife Erica of Alexandria, Louisiana, Shannon Elliott and husband Jason of Camden, Arkansas, Kyle Rogers and wife Amanda of Centerton, Arkansas, Danielle Bailey and husband Brian of Camden, Arkansas, Dusty Phillips and wife Tory of Haughton, Louisiana. Survivors also include twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Phillips was a long-time member and deacon of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Choudrant, Louisiana. He was a small business owner of Phillips Glass and later Phillips Vinyl Siding in Choudrant for many years, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed spending most of his time on the water doing what he loved, casting and reeling in his favorite little fish, white perch and bream. If he was not on the water or hunting from his window, he was holding his chair down watching all the westerns. To his family, he will be remembered as a fisherman, a man of few words, and a dedicated fan of Gunsmoke. He was also the creator of the hot foot, world class fish fryer, and was known for giving the best nicknames. He loved his family, but he sure did miss Jean’s company and food. We are thankful for the blessing of this husband, father, and grandfather; and for the time we got to spend with him during his 85 years. He will be sorely missed but cherished forever. Memories of him will live on foreverin our hearts.
