Helen Worsham Jones Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Services for Helen Worsham Jones, age 85, of Ruston are scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, January 14, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Ruston, La. Officiating the service will be Rev. Andy Johnson assisted by Dr. Chris Craig, preceded by visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 PM the day before on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Burial will follow in the Pines Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Jones passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 9, at the Princeton Place, Ruston, La, where she was cared for with loving kindness since her admission in August of 2010. Helen was born on August 4, 1925 in Verda, Louisiana to Maude Kolb Worsham and Robert Lee Worsham. Mrs. Jones married Dr. E. Carl Jones on December 25, 1944. She attended LSU and graduated from Louisiana Tech with BS and MS degrees in History. She taught for many years at Louisiana Tech in the Department of Business Administration. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Ruston since 1947, where she served for many years as a librarian and was in charge of the Wednesday night dinners. She was a member of the Joy Sunday School, the Women's Missionary Union, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Arts Club of Ruston. When she and her husband moved to Mississippi State University in 1974, Helen worked as a Broker for Coldwell Banker Real Estate for 10 years. After her husband's death in 1985, she returned to their home in Ruston. Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her husband, Dr. E. Carl Jones. She is survived by her two children, Kenneth Carl Jones of Niceville, Florida Sharon, and Carol Jones Wootton Richard of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and her grandchild, Meagan Jones of Birmingham, Alabama. Her very special friends in Ruston include Patsy Hilton, May Shadowen, Libby English, Claire Brown and Carol Shoalmire. Ken & Carol, There are so many memories...from the first time I visited Louisiana in 1967 to the time Aunt Helen moved back to Ruston in 1985. The several sweet visits in the last four years are precious to me, too. She had a unique spin on things and had a way of making me see things in a different light. I will treasure my cookbooks and the many entertaining/cooking lessons I got from her.
