HELEN JACQUELINE DAVIS OWEN OBITUARY Helen Davis Owen passed away on Saturday January 15, 2011 at her family home at D'Arbonne, Louisiana in Union Parish after a long illness. She was 86. Helen was born in Arcadia on August 14, 1924. Helen graduated from Farmerville High School and attended Louisiana Tech University where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Before her marriage to C.B. Owen of Sedley, Virginia, she enjoyed her exciting work as a stewardess for Delta Airlines and later she wrote a column for a local paper in Ohio. After raising their family in Virginia and Ohio, Helen and C.B. retired to D'Arbonne and restored Helen's family home. Until her illness, Helen was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston and spent many happy hours with old friends in her “sewing group” and the Ruston Garden Study Club. Preceded in death by her parents, Reita Wade Davis and Samuel Jackson Davis, and by her husband, Clarence Benjamin Owen, Jr. Wonderful mother to three sons and a daughter, Clarence Benjamin Owen III Mary de Laureal Owen of St. Francisville, James Davis Owen of D'Arbonne, John Wade Owen of Tucson, Arizona and Dr. Lisa Baughman Owen of Providence, Rhode Island. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Wade Bernadette and Meg Owen, Kaolin and May Claire Bodi, and John Owen Jr. Services will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Ruston, Wednesday January 19, 2011 at 11:30 am. Visitation at Kilpatrick Funeral Home 9:30 to 11:00 AM. A private family burial in Culbertson Cemetery will occur later in the day. Pallbearers will be Mark Ashby, Will Ashby, Jonathan King, Wade Owen, John Owen Jr., Eric Hurt and Matt Hurt and Bo Hurt. Honorary Pallbearers are W.A. “Dub” Jones, Colonel Robert S. Beale, Ray Ashby, Bobby King, Robert Dane Rich, Stein Baughman, Jr., Owen Gillette, and Frank Rabil. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Professional Hospice Care of Ruston who supported her stay at home during her illness.
