Mrs. Hawley taught me more homemaking skills and social courtesies than even my mother did. I think of her daily. Mrs. Hawley also taught my daughter. We both feel a great appreciation for her as a teacher and a valuable friend.Maurice, you will soon learn that your mother is not really gone, as her spirit lives inside you.

I was blessed to be taught by Mrs. Hawley at Start High School (class of 1969). She taught the fine art of homemaking, and I have benefited from her instruction over the last 47 years! Mrs. Hawley taught by example, as she exemplified the characteristics of a true lady. She was poised, patient, well spoken, and well dressed, always wearing her signature large ear bobs. She will be fondly remembered by a host of students , who affectionately referred to her as Ma Hawley!

So many good memories of Home Ec class with Mrs. Hawley and the annual pallet party. As a young girl I didn't realize the effort and love that went into teaching. Praying for the family during a difficult time. She will always be remembered.
