Gordon Dunaway will forever fill my heart with joy. I regret not keeping in touch after my divorce and relocating. I spent almost every weekend at the camp with Gordon and Cindy. Cindy was always my backboard. I love her still to this day. I named my daughter after her daughter Mandi. Gordon was my friend and I will forever miss him. Prayers go out to all of my Dunaway friends, Kevin and Buddy and I will be thinking of CIndy and you all.

It is with great sorrow that I have learned of the passing of Gordon. I remember many days at Sol Adler umpiring Michelles games and taking good natured kidding from Gordon about my strike zone. You got it right, Gordon was a big man with a larger than life heart and a good sense of humor and great personality. He will be missed by many. So sorry for your loss. You are in our prayers. Chuck and Ellen Tomlinson

Cindy, I am so sorry for your loss. Know that the days ahead will be tough to work through but they do eventually get better. As for a memory there are too many to list. I still remember Gordon when he and his family moved to Monroe back when we were in 8th grade. The fun we had through JR High and High school will always be engraved in my memories. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences to Cindy and the Dunaway family. Most people know that myself and Gordon were best friends in High School. Gordon's gregarious, spontaneous, personality were such a magnet to me and others. He was the ultimate competitor and athlete. I loved the man, his family, and will deeply miss him. A special thanks to Gordon's parents, who ALWAYS treated me like their son even when I didn't deserve it.

To Gordon's family, May God bless and comfort you in this difficult time. I'll always remember Gordon as such a free and easy going spirit in high school. He came to Monroe in 8th grade as I recall, and we all made fun of his funny accent, but he took it in stride and was instantly accepted and popular throughout high school. I ran into him for the first time since high school at the Coney Island a few years ago, and while his physical stature like all of ours had changed, he was still the Gordon I remembered in high school. One could close his eyes in conversation with him and know that he was the same...a true original, unpretentious, and possessing of an endearing love for his fellow man and nature. We will all miss him but embrace his spirit always. Godspeed, Scott Zentner

Share just "A" memory? I wouldn't know where to start, there are so many. I've never read an obituary that could be more true. Like or him or love him you still ended up loving Big G. They certainly broke the mold when they made him. Truly one of kind with a heart to match the rest of his stature. Oh yeah, share "A" memory. An early memory in my relationship with Gordon: Sitting in Gordons old Picketts Food Service suburban at the softball field where he and I coached our daughters. It starts raining hard, so we throw the girls and my 15 month old son in the suburban and wait out the rain. My Son Reith sat in Gordons lap for over an hour 45 minutes after the rest of us had heard enough brmmm brm, brmmm pulling and yanking on the steering wheel like he's driving. Gordon got a big kick out it and let it go on until the rain stopped. When it was over Reith's hands literally had blisters.
