Glover C. Poole Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Graveside services for Glover C. Poole, 92, of West Monroe, LA, will be at 10 AM, Thursday, August 23, 2007 at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Larry Hibbard officiating. Mr. Poole was born September 8, 1914, in Jena, LA and passed away August 19, 2007, in West Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nina C. Poole, his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. He was a member of College Place Baptist Church in Monroe, LA and was employed with Twin City Printing and Cooley Printing. A member of the International Typographical Union of North America, he was a Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Poole served as a Radio operator in the U.S. Navy Communication Intelligence Organization in the Pacific War from December 1941 to September 1945. Proud to have served his country, he often recounted stories from his military days to his children, grandchildren and friends. He especially liked to recall the time spent with his unit in Australia and the warm, generous Australian people. Family was always important to him and the source of his greatest joy. An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Poole loved to recall hunting excursions in the hills of central Louisiana with his father, brothers, and grandson Matthew. After building a second home on Caney Lake for his family, he spent many happy days with his daughters, grandsons, and other family members fishing, boating, grilling and enjoying life. He especially looked forward to visits with his daughter Stephanie, son-in-law Paul and grandsons Dylan and Ian. Always proud and supportive of his family, he delighted in traveling to Charleston, SC, to participate in his grandson Michael≠s graduation from culinary school. He rejoiced in the marriages of grandsons Matthew and Dylan and welcomed to the family their wives Angela and Alejandra. His unconditional love for his family and unfailing devotion will always be remembered. Sincere appreciation from the family goes to Dr. David Barnes, Mr. Poole≠s family physician. His expert care and compassionate support to Mr. Poole and to his daughter Elizabeth will always be remembered. Family members also extend a heartfelt thank-you to Lula Heard of Bastrop and Diane Warren of West Monroe for all their help and support during a difficult year. Mr. Poole is survived by his daughters; Stephanie Fellendorf and Elizabeth Dumas; grandchildren; Michael Dumas, Matthew Dumas, Dylan Phillips and Ian Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Phillips, Ian Phillips, Matthew Dumas, Michael Dumas, Paul Fellendorf, Ed Hudson, Michael Caskey, Charles Smith and Micky Steen Memorial donations may be made to the College Place Baptist Church in Monroe. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, LA.
