Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Belle Goza Oskoian, 86, of Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Dr. Alan Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Twin Cities Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mrs. Oskoian was born October 30, 1921 in Monroe, LA and passed away March 10, 2008 in Monroe, LA. She was retired as Deputy Tax Assessor for the Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Monroe, LA and the Eastern Star, Dixie Chapter. She was preceded in death by her father: Rufus J. Goza, Sr. and mother: Irene Keller Goza; son: George E. Oskoian, Jr.; brothers: Norman K. Goza and R. J. Goza, Jr. and sister: Joy Dee Goza Reed. Mrs. Oskoian is survived by her husband of 62 years, George Oskoian, Sr. of Monroe; sister: Frances Goza Curty of Monroe; grandsons: Tony Oskoian, Nicholas Oskoian, and Christopher Oskoian and granddaughter: Julia Oskoian of Pensacola, FL. Pallbearers will be Richard Freeland, Rick Chris, Connie Eppinette, Bryan Mitchell, Gary Savage, and Kevin Audirsch. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 St. John Street, Monroe, LA.

Georgia Belle and my older sister were school friends and our parents were close friends. Sheriff Goza was an excellent cook and our family enjoyed a wonderful veal cutlet recipe that he prepared one evening when Jimmie Noe was also a guest. I remember Gov Noe asking Sheriff Goza later if Barr Corry had an ax to grind. He didn't so they had a good laugh. Mostly about Georgia I remember her beautiful voice and her solos at First Baptist. And now today I read another dear First B friend has joined Georgia on the other side, Joyce Litton Foreman. God bless them and my memories of both. I'm thankful to have known themDot Corry
