Funeral services for George “Jakie” D. Williams will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officating the services will be Rev. Bill Sanderson. Interment will follow at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery in Choudrant, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. George D. “Jakie” Williams, 92 of Choudrant, LA, passed away on December 24, 2013 at St. Francis North in Monroe, LA. He is preceded in death by: his parents: V.O. Williams and Maloy Williams: his wife of 55 years: Evelyn S. Williams; daughter: Patricia Williams Aswell; grandson: Wayne L. Aswell, Jr.; and siblings: James N. Williams, Sr.; V.O. Williams, Jr.; Nell Williams Patrick; and Carrie Williams Walker.”Jakie”, as he was known to all his family and friends, enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors, whether it be tending to his yard, or visiting his properties like his “catfish” pond or a tract of pine trees in Ouachita Parish, or the “Root-a-rosa” – his pasture land, just north of Choudrant. He was retired USAF SMSgt. and served during WWII and Korea. He also retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier. He was a Member of the United Methodist Church in Choudrant, LA and the Masonic Lodge #339, also of Choudrant, LA.He is survived by brother: Jack Williams (Nancy) of Jefferson, TX ; daughter : Wanda Williams Shuflin (T.J.) of Pineville, LA ; grandchildren: Melanie Aswell of Boston, MA; Katie Shuflin-Febuary (Nathan) of Pineville, LA; Jacob Aswell of Choudrant, LA; great-granddaughter: Evelyn “Evyn” Febuary of Pineville, LA; former son-in-law: Wayne Aswell (Cathy) of Choudrant, LA; and special friend: Arlene Carruth of Baton Rouge, LA.Pallbearers will be Danny Hancock, Eddie Ford, Bobby Smith, Eddie Parnell, Colt Moore and Jacob Aswell.
