Funeral services for Mr. George Morehead, 74 of Monroe will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2012 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pastor Billy McBride will be officiating under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. Morehead was born February 2, 1937 in Monroe and passed away January 28, 2012 at the home of his son, Shane Morehead in Bosco, LA after 3 months of battling cancer. He was preceded in death by parents, George Morehead and Mildred Morehead, brother, Billy Joe Morehead and daughter Cinndy Ellen McCoy. Mr. Morehead served four years in the United States Air Force. He spent most of his life working offshore as a tool pusher for ODECO on the rig, Ocean 66. Mr. Morehead loved to hunt, fish and visit his children and grandchildren. A very special thank you to his brother Melvin “Gene” Morehead for answering his calls day and night for a smoke break. Mr. Morehead is survived by his wife Margaret Morehead; daughters, Connie Bishop and Buffy Pattillo; sons, Tony Morehead, Shane Morehead, Benjamin Morehead and Christopher Morehead; 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Morehead, Steve Morehead, Mike Morehead and Melvin “Gene” Morehead; sisters; Ginny McCallum, Kathy and husband Aryon McGuire and Sherrie Morehead; brother-in-law, Jim McMurry and niece-in-law, Janie Fowler. Pallbearers will be Tony Morehead, Shane Morehead, Ben Morehead, Chris Morehead, Melvin “Gene” Morehead and Steve D. Morehead. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
