George Edward Spencer was born at home in Elkatawa, Kentucky on February 6, 1934 to Goldie (Goley) and Cora Spencer and died on April 5, 2023 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, Louisiana after a brief illness. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Early in his career, he worked for Firestone Tire Manufacturing and then began working in the construction industry. He was a master builder for many years until he became a tax preparer working along with his wife, Sybil (Ms Kitty), until he retired.

George is survived by children, Ed Spencer and wife Loise, Carolyn Spencer Rottmiller, Cullen Spencer and wife Stephanie, Kim Robbins and husband Paul and Colleen Spencer; niece, Sharon Thomas Durham; sister Martha Spencer; five grandchildren and his faithful companion, Riley G.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Goldie (Goley) and Cora Spencer; wife Sybil Alford Spencer; children: Larita Herrod and Jeffrey Spencer; brothers; Vernon, Sam and Lester Spicer and John D. Spencer; sisters: Gertrude and Morene Spencer, Louise Salyers and Wanda McIntosh.

There will be a memorial at Ouachita Baptist Church, 824 Highway 3033, West Monroe, Louisiana on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Building Fund at Ouachita Baptist Church, the River Cities Humane Society or other charity of choice.
