George Anthony Lewis Jr was born July 1, 1997 to George Anthony Lewis Sr. and April Bailey.
Jr. was a young man with special needs whose parents were told from infancy he would not see tomorrow. Despite one struggle after another, Jr. went on to become a “teacher” of many things specializing in the subjects of love and nursing education. Jr taught many nurses and sitters the art of being a caregiver. He taught his mother, his Auntie, his special love Amber Alford how to be nurses and take care of children like him. He personally taught Angelica Bailey, Dominique Hawkins and finally his twin sisters how to be sitters. Jr. was an asset to his home health. Not many new extended care nurses made it through the hiring process without his approval first. He was a lover of life, happiest doing day to day with his family and surrogate mothers Linda & Serena. Jr. loved to hear his Pappa Jeff’s voice, listening intently to his shenanigans -he lit up when Pappa Jeff talked to him. He loved the sound of babies babbling and the chaos of little children all around him. Jr. was a lover of all kinds of music and near the end had his own musicians in house via his sisters and sometimes friends serenading him with trumpets, flutes, guitars, ukulele and saxophone, he enjoyed their music and even sometimes racket. He loved vibrant colors and light shows. Jr. loved being talked to & obviously loved getting moms attention a variety of ways. Jrs smile was contagious, he smiled thru the most difficult circumstances. His sisters want it known that he taught them empathy and emotional maturity. His mom wants to thank him for changing the trajectory of her life & being her forever baby for 26 years more than she was told to expect. The family wants to express our most sincere gratitude to the countless friends, family and medical family for the love, the care and compassion shown to Jr. and his family throughout his 26 years of life. This includes but not limited to Libby Page his first home health nurse who admitted him at 2 months old when he first “come home to die” and wound up overseeing his care most of his life; Mangham Home Care, Care Solutions, People Unlimited, OCDD, Dr. Meade O’Boyle, Dr. Pena Miches, Dr. Joaquin Rosales, Dr. Greg Green, St. Francis Medical Center hospitalist Dr.’s and Nurse practitioners, and some of the best people in the world we crossed paths with thru many hospitalizations in 26 years treating Jr. when sick and supporting his momma, listening to her, offering kind words & encouragement, and many times a shoulder to cry on. We made many forever friends with hospital staff, ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, aids, housekeeping personnel and cafeteria staff, everyone made a difference. We resisted hospital stays to no end but God always provided us the best people when we had to be there. Finally we say a heartfelt thank you to our Pastors Norman and Diane Riordan and the church family at River of Life Assembly, formerly Pleasant Valley Assembly of God where his roots were planted and we watched the hand of God move for generations. Many prayers have called his name for God’s intervention for Jr and He has always been faithful to provide.
