Funeral services for Mr. George R. Thomas, 84, of Monroe, La. will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, La. Officiating will be Rev. Bill Bearden and Rev. Jim Ragsdale, interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.Mr. Thomas was born January 13, 1924 in Pounding Mill, Virginia and passed away March 7, 2008 in Monroe, La. He was Owner of Thomas Auto Parts and Salvage and Thomas Napa Auto Parts. Mr. Thomas was in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude F. Thomas , mother, Elva Johnson Thomas.Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife of 59 _ years: Jo Edith Thomas, daughter; Melissa Jo Thomas Green and husband Kenneth, sons; Byron R. Thomas and wife Mary Jane, George B. Thomas and wife Abbie, John T. Thomas and wife Ramona, grandsons; Ken Green and wife Michelle, Mark Green and wife Ginger, John Green and wife Christi, Colby Thomas, Seth Thomas, Joshua Thomas and wife Kelley, Jonathan Thomas, Joseph Thomas, Trey Thomas, Hunter Hearn, granddaughter; Kaitlin Thomas. Sisters;Mary Staggs, Gennette Smith, Sue Lockhart, Louise Dowell, brother; Jack Dowell. Also survived by seven great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces and lifetime friends.Pallbearers will be: Ken Green, Mark Green, John Green, Colby Thomas, Seth Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, Trey Thomas.Honorary pallbearers will be: Hunter Hearn, Joseph Thomas.Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2008 and 1:00 PM until service time on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe, LA.The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Care for love and support.
