Funeral services for Gene R. Chapman (Hatchet) of Farmerville will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Mickey Bounds and Bro. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow at Rocky Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until service time at the church under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
Gene was born December 9, 1940 in Farmerville and passed away September 21, 2021 in Farmerville, LA. He was owner of Chapman’s Backhoe Service and belonged to International Union of Operating Engineers Local 406. Gene was a Mason and belonged to Grand Lodge of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Emery and Nettie Chapman; brothers William Allen Chapman, Martez Chapman and Bob Chapman; sister Dolynn Chapman Cascio; son Dean Chapman; grandson Dustin Carter. Gene loved the good Lord, his family, his business, hunting , fishing and listening to George Jones.
Gene is survived by his wife Bobbie Mae Chapman; sons Eugene Chapman (Lisa), Jackie Chapman, James (Bimbo) Chapman (Venessa), Regina (Sissy) Carter (spouse) Ricky; sister Daisy Chapman Babineau; 11 grandchildren 34 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Chapman, Randall Chapman, Casey Chapman, Ryan Chapman, Robbie Chapman, Austin Cox and Craig Cox and Andrew Cox.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Phillips, Mike Axon, J.C. Honeycutt, Art Roberts, Allen Dale Pace, Jerrel Gates, Huey Tatum, Jr. Gates, David Hall and Keigan Head.
