A Celebration of Life for Gene Eldra Broom, of West Monroe, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 26, 2023 at Ouachita Baptist Church, Hwy 3033, West Monroe, Louisiana 71292. Dr. Mike Holloway will officiate. A private interment will follow at Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church.

Mr. Broom was born on August 11, 1939 and went to his Heavenly home on June 22, 2023. He was a member of Ouachita Baptist Church and loved his church family. Mr. Broom loved to sing and was in The Travelers Quartet. He was an auto mechanic and loved to watch racing. At one time, Mr. Broom raced cars for several years. He was also a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, worked for the Ouachita Parish School Board, and was a greens keeper for the local golf courses.

Mr. Broom is survived by his wife of 29 years, Joyce Duke Broom; children, Jeff Broom (Mickey), Jen Barnes (Ken), Jared Broom (Courtney), Kim Book (Burt), Angel Souza (Jeff), Emmy Lopaz (Luis), Robyn Rabb (Billy Carbone, Jr.), Crystal Wade (Jake), Margaret Kinnaird (Jeremy); sisters, Judy Gates (Jarrel), Wanda Philips (Kernel Lee Hobgood); brother, Jerry Broom (Elaine); 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other cherished family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Wilkerson, Hugh Hodge, Randy Peavy, David Barnes, Bradley Barnes, and Cooper Broom. Honorary pallbearer will be Ray Anding.
