Funeral services for Roberta Gayle Simmons Poole, age 92, will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church on North Trenton, Ruston, LA, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston with Rev. Bob Deich officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service starting at 9:00am. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Gloster, MS at 4:00pm.Roberta Gayle Simmons Poole, 92, was born May 17, 1924 in Bogalusa, LA and passed away on August 21, 2016 at her home in Ruston, LA. She graduated high school from Columbia, MS and attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College, and the University of Mississippi. Over the course of her life, she was member of First United Methodist Church of Gloster, MS and Jonesville, LA. She was a current member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Ruston, LA. She was always involved in Sunday School and Women Missions. Gayle loved a good book and being with her family.She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Oliver Lamar Poole, Sr.; parents, Levy Jackson Simmons and Roberta Gale Simmons; sister, Janice Simmons Bailey and husband, Carter H. Bailey; her sister-in-law, Murl Poole Strong and husband, Omer B. Strong, Sr. and sister-in-law, Avis Jean Poole.She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Poole Gilmore and husband, James Danny Gilmore; her son, Oliver Lamar Poole, Jr. and wife, Meghan B. Poole; Grandsons, SSG Jared D. Gilmore and wife, Kristin Epps Gilmore; J. Cameron Gilmore and wife, Hilary Burgmeier Gilmore; Parker L. Poole and Christian J. Poole; Granddaughter, Allison Gale Gilmore; Great-grandchildren, Brady James Gilmore, Tenley Kate Gilmore, and London Rose Gilmore. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.The family gives special thanks for the loving care given by Gayle sitters over the years.Pallbearers will be Drew Bahlinger, Jared Gilmore, Clint Ivey, Dan Martisius, Andrew Strong, Omer Strong, J.
