Funeral services for Garland Elliott Bearden, 78, of Downsville, LA will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Wilhite United Methodist Church Wilhite, LA. Rev. Bill Foster will be officiating. Interment will follow at Wilhite Cemetery, Wilhite, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. Bearden was born February 28, 1934 in Union Parish, LA and passed away November 7, 2012 in Downsville, LA. Garland proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of Wilhite United Methodist Church and retired from Manville as a maintenance superintendant after 31 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. and Eula V. Bearden ; 4 brothers, Elhanan Bearden, Roy Skains, Lafayette Skains and James Bearden; 2 sisters, Pauline Taylor and Alene Baker. Garland is survived by his wife; Sarah Wilhite Bearden; daughters; Deborah Bearden Stacey and husband Mike and Terri B. Bearden and husband Jay; granddaughters; Allison Stacey Hatfield and husband Jason and Melissa Stacey; grandsons; Kevin M. Stacey and wife Danielle, Dusty Monk , Cory Monk and wife Hope; great granddaughters; Olivia Hatfield, Kate Stacey, Elise Stacey, IvyRose Harris and Farrah Monk; 3 sisters, Dorothy Brantley, Genell Meacham and Mae Smith; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dusty Monk, Cory Monk, Jason Hatfield, Kevin Stacey, D.K. Alford and David Meacham. Visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Memorials may be made to Wilhite United Methodist Church, 1124 Wes Wilhite Road, Downsville, LA 71234
