I had the privilege of taking care of Mr. Gregory during many of his visits in the outpt dept at NLMC. He always came through the door with a smile on his face and was such a pleasure to visit with he could make you forget about working! Thank you for sharing him.

I remember Coach Gregory from the late 70's at La Tech. I can still remember the stories he used to tell and how he was always a gentleman. I also have thought of him through the years and the influence he made on my life. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Patrick Sullivan left a message on May 3, 2011:
I have always credited two men with giving me the guidance needed to be a man, my Dad and Coach Gregory. I thought the world of both. I had the honor of spending some time with the 'Coach' last year before the LaTech/Navy game and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our visit recalling old times. What a great individual. Coach Gregory made the world a better place and will be truly missed. However, he will live forever in my memory. Semper Fi

I had the honor of meeting Coach for the first time last year. My older brother played football for him at El Dorado. Both Patrick and my father greatly admired Coach Gregory and despite the fact I was only 6 when we moved - I never forgot hearing about the kind of man he was. I am so happy that Pat got to talk to him one more time and tell him what he meant to him - not just as a player, but as a man.

I was a part of Coach Gregory's last two teams at El Dorado High School. I was not one of his best players. But the interaction with him is one of those great life experiences. I can still picture him turning his hat around to show me how to block or tackle. I have thought about him often through the years.

Coach Gregory was loved and respected by our 1958 El Dorado High School class. We were blessed by his attendance to our 50th class reunion in 2008, when we shared memories of our high school days. We will always remember him.
Bob Carroll left a message on May 1, 2011:
I remember as a sophomore standing around talking to some friends when Coach Gregory came up to me and said, "Son have you ever thought about playing football?" How honored I was to be asked by the great man himself and that was all I needed to go out and try to do something that I had never done before. I've got to admit that I was not very good, but at 190# I was a great blocking dummy for Glen Ray Hines hope this is spelled correctly. I admire Coach Gregory to this day and am not surprised at his life stories and to have lived so long. My codolences to classmate Josie. Bob Carroll, Class of 62

I can tell you all the things you already know about Coach Gregory: he was kind, gentle but demanding, loving,sweet-spirited but disciplined, and just a good man. What you may not know was that he was the best builder of men I've ever known. He took young high school guys and molded them into men. He didn't ask anyone to respect him, yet everyone did. I didn't realize how how often I spoke fondly of Coach Gregory until my wife and I attended a funeral service several years ago. I was honored to sit by Coach Gregory with my wife on the other side. She said afterward she couldn't believe how "average" he looked. She went on to explain that she expected him to be seven feet tall and 300 pounds. I had built up his stature in her mind over the years. I played on Coach Gregory's last team at El Dorado. We weren't the 1958 team by any stretch, but we had a good year. I always suspected that he was waiting for that really good year to leave coaching, to go out on a high note. We all loved and respected Coach Gregory. As could all his players, I could tell you story after story, but instead I'll just say that I'll miss him and I credit him with teaching me a lot about life. He was a true treasure!

Coach Garland Gregory contributed so much to the lives of so many young men. He taught us that we could do so much more than we thought possible; that the team was more important than the individual; that preperation and hard work were essential to success and that there was a difference between hurt and pain. I have remembered those principles and they have helped me occoplish many things in my life that I would have given up on without his influence. A great man, a great coach, a great counselor, a great person and a great friend that I have loved and respected since 1954. He will be missed by many. Richard E. Griffin...
