Galen was a great testimony to "walking the walk because he talked the talk"...and how he loved Louisiana Tech. Having met Galen in 1970 when I first came to Tech, he was always a pleasant person to be around. Our family prays for strength and peace for his family during this trying time.
David Roane left a message on October 31, 2007:
I've known Galen since about 5th grade at AE Phillips. He was one of Tech's most loyal supporters in many ways, going all the way back to the 1960's. Galen was a fine man.
Mat Dauzat left a message on October 31, 2007:
I was fortunate enough to have known Galen since I was a kid playing around at The Bulldog Kennel. What a great guy! He will be missed, but well-remembered by those who knew him. My thoughts go out to the family right now.
Sam and Jo Ann Dauzat left a message on October 31, 2007:
Dear family, we were privileged to begin knowing Galen through our involvement with sons of the same age and in the same schools. He proved to be a devoted father with high aspirations for his sons. We continued to know Galen long after the sons were "grown" through our involvement at Tech. Again, he was devoted to Tech, to the students, to his position, and to his colleagues. The University family and the entire community have been enriched by Galen Rocket. What better legacy than to have friends assert that this man did make a difference in the lives of others! Please accept our sincere condolences and our prayers that you gain strength through your grief.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

When I think of Galen, I think of fun times and laughter. I had the honor of working as a student worker with him at Tech, and we always had fun. I am so blessed by his faith in Christ and his assurance of salvation.

Galen's family and friends: Galen was a great person and a really nice guy. We spent a lot of time together at Ruston High and Tech, and Galen remained the same truly good, decent guy for the 40+ years I knew him. He never changed. He always had a smile and time to visit. People meant a lot to him. It was a blessing to know Galen Rockett. His Christian faith assures us that his absence is only temporary. May God's peace be with you.

My deepest sympathies go out to Galen's family. I met Galen back in the mid-90's while managing the cheer leading and dance camps for UCA/UDA. We hit it off almost instantly and I couldn't help but return every year for the next 4 years! Even though I was called a d _ _ _ Yankee, I earned my honorary Southern Belle certificate. For that, I will forever be grateful! Galen made my summers away from home the midwest some of my most memorable.
