Frederick William Huenefeld, Jr.
Funeral services for Frederick “Fred” William Huenefeld, Jr. will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 17, 2023, at First Methodist Church of Monroe, LA. with Rev. Brian Mercer and Rev. John O’Leary officiating. Visitation will be at 2:00 P.M. before the service. Private family interment will be at Riverview Cemetery on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 10:00 A.M., under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
Frederick William Huenefeld, Jr. was born in Monroe, LA on December 27, 1929, to the union of Frederick and Stella Amy Bennett Huenefeld. Fred passed away at the age of 93 on September 14, 2023, in Baton Rouge, La. It has been said “There are special people in our lives, who never leave us, even after they are gone.” Fred was certainly special. He was a loving husband, faithful father, true friend, who had a servant’s heart for helping others. Compassion and kindness were his strong character traits.
Fred was a farmer, realtor and businessman, who was active in many church and community organizations, over his 93 years. To list all his activities would fill a book. He was a member of First Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School class, Sons of the American Revolution, Rotary Club, English Speaking Union, Boeuf River Soil and Water Conservation District, La. Association of Realtors and countless others.
Fred is survived by his daughters, Rebecca “Becky” H. Harrod and her husband, Chet, of Baton Rouge, LA, Rachel Littleton Huenefeld of Baton Rouge, LA., and son Frederick W. Huenefeld, III and his wife, Tonja, of Ruston, LA. Grandchildren: Geoffrey Chandler Harrod of Los Angeles, CA., Christopher Chambliss Harrod, M.D. and his wife, Rebecca, of Baton Rouge, William Bennett Harrod and his wife, Kellyn, of The Woodlands, Texas, Thomas Frederick Huenefeld, Maggie Grace Huenefeld, Hannah Barbara Huenefeld, James Calvin Huenefeld, Mary Emma Huenefeld, Sadie Jackson Huenefeld, Abby Rea Huenefeld, Naomi Rose Huenefeld, Katherine Mae Huenefeld and Madeline Claire Huenefeld, all of Ruston, La. Great Grandchildren: George Chesterfield Harrod, III, Richard Wait Harrod, Anna Charles Harrod, Christopher Chambliss Harrod, Jr., John Moreau Harrod, Paul Michot Rathbone Harrod, Liam Bennett Harrod and Beau Gentry Harrod. He is also survived by Lillian G. Gentry, Charles Emory Wilkins and wife, Sylvia Gentry Wilkins. He was cherished by his nieces and nephews, John Stewart Gentry and wife, Wendy, Laura Ashley Wilkins Willhite, Sylvia Jean Wilkins Sharplin and husband, Dan, Elizabeth Diana Gentry Breen and husband, Mike, and their children and grandchildren, who loved Uncle Fred. He especially loved his Huenefeld cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Jean Gentry Huenefeld, his daughter, Sylvia Jean Huenefeld, his parents, as well as his mother and father in law, Jean Littleton and Herschel A. Gentry, Herschel A. Gentry, Jr. and Barbara E. Gentry.
Honoring Fred as pallbearers will be Geoffrey Chandler Harrod, Christopher Chambliss Harrod, M.D., William Bennett Harrod, Thomas Frederick Huenefeld, James Calvin Huenefeld, George Chesterfield Harrod, III, Richard Wait Harrod, John Stewart Gentry and Michael Scott Breen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Emory Wilkins, Stanley Johnson, Christopher Johnson and Danny Massey as well as the members of the Friendship Class of First Methodist Church.
